How do you get from an unimpressive, plain concrete floor to a beautiful, shining concrete surface as shown?
To achieve this result, simply you need grind the concrete surface then polish it to the desired finish.
In this article, we will go over all the steps to a polished concrete from “Start to Finish”, using the Fioshine Diamond Grinding Tools
This first step uses Metal-Bond diamond segments.
Usually, in this grinding step, we use mainly 2 grits-Grit 30/40 & Grit 60/80
Note that it is critical to choose the correct “Diamond Bond” for this step. Simple guide is that Hard bond for Soft concrete, Medium bond for Medium concrete, Soft bond for Hard concrete.
Honing… the second step or phase uses Hybrid/Transition diamonds. Here we recommend our Hybrid Bond Diamond Grinding Pads. Grits are #50, #100, #200, #400
Using Sodium Silicate, Lithium or other chemicals to harden the surface of the concrete, enabling it to retain the finish for years with minimal maintenance.
In the last step uses the Resin Bond polishing pads to give the floor its incredible shine and reflection.
It is at these final stages that the change with each pass really becomes noticeable.
If you are wanting a “Matte” finish, you have achieved with Grit 400 and no more are necessary, you are done.
But, if you are looking for that high gloss, clear reflection then the next step, the 800 Grit resin pad will make it!
You have the option to polish with 1,500 Grit and 3,000 Grit depend on how much reflection you want.
